The Advantages of Using a Garmin dash cam
The following are some of the advantages of using a Garmin Mini dash cam:
With a Garmin dash cam installed in your car, you have evidence of any incident. Given the unpredictability of roads, having evidence of any incident is beneficial.
Reduce Road Rage: Everyone is in a hurry on the road, and road rage is a common sight. Unfortunately, road rage can quickly escalate into violence. With a Garmin dash cam, you’ll have video evidence to confront or prosecute the offender. That will help you avoid unwarranted road rage.
Report Reckless/Racist Drivers: You’re bound to encounter aggressive/rash drivers; whether you’re taking a short drive or a long road trip, you’re bound to encounter aggressive/rash drivers. These drivers may endanger you, your surroundings, and themselves. With a dashboard camera, you can record the vehicle’s registration number and, if necessary, report it to the traffic police.
Garmin dashcam 66W
The $250 Garmin dashcam 66W is more than a dash cam; it also features driver assist alerts that can assist you in avoiding an accident. In addition, its small footprint ensures that it does not obstruct your field of vision, and it is compatible with an intuitive smartphone app that enables you to view, download, and save images, video, and data from the device, as well as control it easily. While the Garmin Mini dash cam 66W is on the more expensive end of the dashcam spectrum, it represents an excellent value for the features it includes.
Features and Video Quality of the Garmin dash cam 66W
The Garmin dash cam 66W is approximately 1.6 by 2.2 by 1.4 inches (HWD), which means it will easily disappear from your line of sight. On the side facing you, it features a 2-inch display and four buttons along the right side. The USB plug on the left makes docking the power cable simple, while the micro USB port and three small cooling vents are located on the bottom. After about 15 minutes of use, the Garmin 66W was constantly warm to the touch, and not just on hot, sunny days, though this did not affect performance.
The camera of this Garmin dashcam has an extremely wide field of view of 180 degrees and can record 1440p video at 30 frames per second; it also supports 1080p video at 60 or 30 frames per second and 720p video at 30 frames per second. During our tests, the video quality on the 1080p setting at 60 frames per second was impressive during the day, easily capturing essential visuals such as car make and license plate details.
Having said that, image quality was only acceptable at night and was harmed by headlight flare. On the plus side, the camera can be used in parking surveillance mode by purchasing a $35 accessory cable.

Price
While the Garmin dash cam 66W is significantly more expensive than the $90 Papago GoSafe 535, it is also one of the most feature-rich models for the price compared to the BlackVue DR750X-1CH Plus. It fulfills all of the requirements for a dash cam, and its driver-assistance features work well and can potentially save you from an accident, making it worth considering on its own. Additionally, unlike the more expensive Owl Car Cam, it does not require a monthly subscription, making it a more cost-effective option in the long run, as well as our Editors’ Choice for high-end dash cams.

Review of the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2: Design and features
With its chunky, key fob-sized design and simple curves, the Garmin Mini 2 is positively adorable. And despite its lightweight, this dash cam exudes quality with its lattice-effect fascia and robust plastic shell.
Its minimalist design is carried over to its buttons, which are limited to two: one for saving and another for muting/unmuting the microphone.
Don’t be fooled by the Garmin dash cam Mini 2’s diminutive size either — it conceals an impressive arsenal of features. To begin, there is crash detection, which records video of an incident and uploads it to the online Garmin Vault. This online cloud storage service provides users with free 24-hour video storage in exchange for a subscription fee for extended storage periods.
Additionally, the Garmin dash cam Mini 2 includes voice control, a feature that is uncommon in a dash cam at this price point. Additionally, a parking guard notifies you of suspicious activity near your vehicle, though you will need an active Wi-Fi connection and a hardwire set up to use this feature.
Finally, the live view feature enables you to view a live feed of your camera while you’re away from your vehicle using a smart device.

Review of the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2: video and audio quality
I was impressed with the image quality of the Garmin Mini 2 for a small dash cam running 1080p.
Colors are generally well-balanced, and images are crystal clear during the day. In addition, the sensor’s 30 frames per second rate contribute to the smoothness of the video. And, while there are some instances of fuzziness — most notably at night — this dash cam performs admirably in low-light conditions.
There can be some glare on brighter days — Mini 2 purchasers may wish to add the optional glare filter to their wishlists. And while the “fish-eye” effect does creep in at certain angles, it is by no means a deal-breaker.
Additionally, there is no issue with audio, as the microphone picks up voices clearly. Even with music playing at a moderate volume level, it will continue to respond to your voice commands.
Review of the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2: Verdict
Garmin packed a lot into the Mini 2, resulting in a high-quality dash cam that shouldn’t be overlooked.
Yes, it is a dash camera without the display, which I believed to be its primary flaw. But, rather than that, I didn’t miss the screen’s distraction — its unobtrusive, compact design was its greatest strength.
